Prem Keetanu Movie Review: There's a certain age when everything feels simple. You've got your friends, your little routines, your crushes, and this quiet belief that things will just work out. Vishal is living exactly that life when Prem Keetanu kicks off. Then Suhani walks in, and his easy, carefree world starts to shift.

Director Apoorv Singh Karki uses this romance as a starting point, but the film doesn't stop there. It slowly moves into friendship, family, ambition, and the messy reality of growing up, giving the story more depth than a simple college romance usually offers.

Veer Pahariya plays Vishal, a laid-back backbencher who couldn't care less about planning his future. He's content hanging out with his roommate and best friend, taking each day as it comes. His world feels small, comfortable, and entirely under his control, until someone new walks into it.

Suhani, played by newcomer Aafiya Sayed, is the complete opposite. She's practical, focused, and has her life far more figured out than Vishal does. He falls for her easily. But just as things start to click between them, Ranjeet shows up and complicates everything for both of them.

How Is Prem Keetanu Different?

A love triangle isn't exactly new territory, but the film doesn't let it turn into a predictable hero-versus-rival setup. Vishal genuinely cares for Suhani, Ranjeet has his own charm too, and Suhani isn't written as someone just waiting around to pick between two guys.

There's jealousy, sure, but there's also that very real confusion you feel when you like someone and have no clue where you actually stand with them. That messy, uncertain feeling is what makes the romance in this film easy to relate to, even if you've seen this setup before.

Prem Keetanu review

What Works In Prem Keetanu?

The family track becomes particularly important as Vishal starts looking at his relationship with his parents differently. There isn't some huge dramatic conflict between them. Instead, there is the everyday distance that can exist between parents and children even when there is plenty of love underneath it. A simple phone conversation between Vishal and his father captures this perfectly.

Vishal calls, and his father's first response is, 'What do you want?' - the moment feels real because affection between fathers and sons isn't always expressed through emotional declarations. Sometimes it comes through practical questions, advice, complaints or silence. Prem Keetanu understands this dynamic and allows the emotion to come through without overplaying it.

Vishal's US visa approval then adds another complication. What should be a straightforward moment of happiness suddenly becomes a difficult choice. Should he leave and pursue the opportunity? Should he stay for Suhani? And what if he makes a decision that he later regrets? The dilemma pushes Vishal to think beyond the immediate moment. For perhaps the first time, he has to understand that his choices have consequences.

Even with these emotional threads, Prem Keetanu doesn't become overly serious. The humour keeps returning. The film moves between jokes, romance and quieter family moments without completely changing its personality. That balance helps the story remain breezy.

Performances

Veer Pahariya fits Vishal's personality well. He plays him as someone who is naturally carefree. The performance finds more depth once he starts questioning himself. His problem slowly stops being only about Suhani. Sayed makes a promising debut as Suhani.

Vishal and Suhani's romance doesn't feel overly polished, which works in the film's favour. Aparshakti Khurana brings his comic energy to Ranjeet and adds plenty of life to the romantic portions without pushing the character into caricature territory.

The film also gets a lot of mileage out of Vishal's friendship with his roommate. Their equation feels comfortable and familiar. The roommate is the person Vishal can turn to when things get confusing, even if the advice isn't always particularly useful.

Rakesh Bedi brings warmth and humour as Suhani's father. Ranjeet's attempts to impress him provide some of the lighter moments in the film.

The supporting cast helps create a world around Vishal that feels lived-in.

Background Score And Technicalities

The music fits comfortably into the film's youthful mood. Kaho Toh, Tu Mera Raiyyo and Ishq Ka Ghulaam bring energy to the proceedings, while the colourful visuals and choreography complement the romantic atmosphere. The songs feel connected to the film's world rather than simply appearing as breaks in the narrative.

Karki keeps the storytelling accessible, while Deepak Kingrani's screenplay gives space to the different sides of Vishal's life.

Final Verdict: 3.5/5 Stars

Romance, friendship and family all have their place, and the North Indian setting adds a familiar flavour to the story without distracting from its central journey.

What makes Prem Keetanu work is not that it tells an entirely new story. It is the way it finds room for several familiar emotions within that story. Vishal begins by worrying about love and gradually discovers that life is asking him much bigger questions. His parents, his future, his friendship and his own decisions all become part of the growing-up process.

It is a simple story about a complicated phase of life — when love arrives, adulthood follows close behind, and suddenly every choice feels a little more important.
