Many are calling it a slow burn, one that keeps pulling you deeper into a messed-up situation as it goes on. Some found it overstuffed. Others felt it was twisted enough to keep them hooked anyway.

What Doesn't Work In Verity?

1. Dakota Johnson's character feels overly sexualised, more than the story actually needed. The story leans too hard into Lowen Ashleigh and Jeremy romance, with Verity reduced to just an obstacle in their way.

2. The pacing is rushed. One thing happens, then another, then another, barely any room to breathe. Just when a big reveal should be building up, the film's already jumped to the next scene.

3. Fans of the novel feel the film cut out a lot of the suspense to focus more on the erotic angle instead.

4. Some found it absurd, but in a campy way that could still work for certain viewers. The tone keeps swinging, quiet and flat one moment, loud and over-the-top the next.
