New Malayalam movies on OTT: The year 2024 is set to be a landmark year for Malayalam cinema, with many major releases lined up. Alongside theatrical premieres, several films and web series will debut on popular OTT platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, SonyLIV and Disney+ Hotstar. New Malayalam movies on OTT
Bougainvillea
Bougainvillea is a 2024 Indian Malayalam-language psychological crime thriller directed by Amal Neerad, who co-wrote the script with Lajo Jose. The film is produced by Amal Neerad Productions and Udaya Pictures. Starring Jyothirmayi, Kunchacko Boban, and Fahadh Faasil, with Veena Nandakumar, Srinda, and Sharaf U Dheen in supporting roles, it is inspired by Lajo Jose's 2019 novel Ruthinte Lokam. Notably, the film marks Jyothirmayi's return to the cinema after an 11-year hiatus.
Bougainvillea is set for an OTT release on SonyLiv starting December 13.
Kishkindha Kaandam
Kishkindha Kaandam (2024) is an Indian Malayalam-language mystery film directed by Dinjith Ayyathan and written by Bahul Ramesh. It stars Asif Ali, Vijayaraghavan, and Aparna Balamurali. Set in the monkey-inhabited Kallepathi reserve forest, the story follows ex-military officer Appu Pillai and his son Ajay Chandran, a forest officer.
Kishkindha Kaandam is streaming on Disney+Hotstar
Pani
Pani (2024) is an Indian Malayalam-language action thriller film written and directed by Joju George in his directorial debut. The film stars Joju George, Sagar Surya, Junaiz V. P., Bobby Kurian, Abhinaya, Abhaya Hiranmayi, Seema, Chandini Sreedharan, Prashanth Alexander, Sujith Shankar, and Rinosh George. The movie features a soundtrack composed by Vishnu Vijay, Sam C. S. and Santhosh Narayanan.
Malayalam action thriller Pani will release on Sony LIV on Dec 20.
Family
The story centers on a man admired in his village for his kindness and commitment to helping others, especially children. However, beneath this seemingly virtuous facade lurks a disturbing reality—he is a predator. The film delves into how family loyalty and institutional silence allow such individuals to evade responsibility, leaving the victims' voices unheard and their suffering ignored.
