Sidhu Moosewala Parents Protest News: Four years after the death of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala, his parents have staged a protest outside the office of the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) in Mansa. The protest is linked to a royalty dispute over the late singer’s music, which continues to earn millions of views online. Sidhu Moosewala, whose real name was Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, was shot dead on May 29, 2022.

Why Did Sidhu Moosewala’s Parents Sit On Dharna?

On February 11, 2026, Moosewala’s father Balkaur Singh and mother Charan Kaur sat on a dharna outside the SSP office in Mansa. They were accompanied by their two-year-old son, who is named Shubhdeep after the late singer. The couple alleged that the police have not acted on their complaint regarding unpaid royalties and financial irregularities.

According to Balkaur Singh, he first submitted a complaint to the Director General of Police (DGP) on June 8, 2025. The complaint was later forwarded to the Mansa SSP, but no FIR has been registered so far. “Neither are they acting on my complaint, nor are they returning it. The SSP is not taking any action,” he said. He added that if the complaint is false, the police should formally return it instead of keeping it pending.

What Is Sidhu Moosewala’s Royalty Dispute About?

Balkaur Singh has accused three digital marketing promoters of not sharing proper financial audits and royalty payments related to Sidhu Moosewala’s songs. The complaint reportedly names Bunty Bains, Gurpreet Singh Bhasin, and Shabbir Momin. “We are being deprived of the income generated by our son’s work,” Balkaur Singh told reporters. He said that the company holding the marketing rights to Moosewala’s tracks has not shared financial details for over a year. However, he refused to disclose the exact amount involved.

At one point during the protest, he said, “I don't have anything in my account. I have only 100 rupees,” adding, “We are very unfortunate. We have lost everything.” He also claimed that he had submitted evidence checked by chartered accountants and legal experts. “The police are biased, under pressure from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government," he alleged. There has been no fresh response from the accused after the recent protest.

Sidhu Moosewala’s Songs After His Death

Since his death, Moosewala’s official YouTube channel has continued to release songs recorded before 2022. The channel has crossed over 6 billion total views. Songs like SYL, Vaar, and Mera Na have crossed millions of views, with some surpassing 100 million. His 2024 track Drippy also gained attention for using AI-generated visuals. However, the revenue from these releases is now at the centre of the ongoing dispute.

Following the protest, Deputy Inspector General of Police Harjit Singh called the couple for a meeting. Police have not yet issued an official statement on the matter.
