Months after ban in India following the Pahalgam terror attack, Aabeer Gulaal, starring Pakistani actor Fawad Khan and Indian actor Vaani Kapoor, is all set to hit overseas screens on September 12, 2025. Ahead of its release, director has shared the trailer of the movie on his official Instagram handle. This came months after Aabeer Gulaal's trailer was removed from YouTube India.
Aabeer Gulaal has faced a turbulent journey toward its release. The incident not only shook the nation but also reignited debates over the involvement of Pakistani artists in Indian entertainment projects. In the weeks that followed, there were persistent and widespread boycott calls targeting the film, given that Fawad Khan is a Pakistani actor. These sentiments quickly escalated, casting a shadow over the project and prompting the makers to indefinitely postpone its release plans in India.
As months passed, speculation about the film’s future grew stronger. In August 2025, reports surfaced suggesting that Aabeer Gulaal would still make its way to global audiences, albeit without India being part of the release. According to sources close to the project, the film was scheduled to hit screens in as many as 75 countries on August 29, 2025. However, the release strategy continued to evolve.
In a more recent development, the film’s director confirmed that the release date had been pushed back further, with Aabeer Gulaal now slated to release internationally on September 12, 2025, leaving Indian audiences uncertain about when or if they will get to see the film.
