Veteran actor Anupam Kher, whose illustrious career spans hundreds of films, recently shared a few humorous memories from his early days, including the time he experimented with marijuana and bhang while studying at the National School of Drama (NSD). During his appearance on Unfiltered by Samdish on YouTube, the 70-year-old actor recalled these incidents and said they taught him never to experiment with such substances again.

Anupam Kher recalled his first experience with marijuana, saying he took “two drags” and soon found himself staring up at the sky. He fixated on a plane that had just taken off, watching it shrink into a tiny speck. Joking about how long he remained lost in that moment, he said, "I think I kept looking at it until it must have landed at Heathrow Airport." The incident left him feeling confused and anxious.

The effects continued even after he got into his car, where he struggled to tell whether the vehicle was moving or the road itself, describing the sensation as him having "gone crazy".

Kher further recalled his bhang experience, stating, "When I tried it, I swore I would never do it again, because I laughed for eight hours straight. My batchmates, also high, were standing on the terrace telling the warden, ‘The army is coming.’ I kept telling them I would die laughing and begged them to save me."

He added that the amusing part was his expectation that his friend would respond, even though no one could understand what he was saying. Anupam compared the situation to scenes from Jim Carrey’s The Mask, and noted that the experience ensured he never tried such substances again. This year, the actor appeared in several films, including Emergency, Tumko Meri Kasam, Metro… In Dino, and Tanvi the Great.
