A Japanese woman has been indicted on charges of molesting BTS member Jin. The woman gave an unsolicited kiss on Kpop idol's cheek without his consent during a fan "hug event" in Seoul in June 2024. This happened at a time when Jin held a free hug event for 1,000 fans to celebrate his discharge from mandatory military service and the 11th anniversary of BTS.
The Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors' Office said that it indicted the woman without detention last Wednesday on charges of indecent assault.
The Songpa Police Precinct had initially registered a case against the woman and issued a request for her to appear for questioning. However, the investigation was put on hold in March. The case gained momentum again when the woman voluntarily presented herself for questioning, following which the police conducted further inquiry. Upon reviewing the details, they found the allegations to be substantiated and subsequently handed over the case to the prosecutors for further legal proceedings.
