Dhurandhar: The Revenge has finally released in cinemas on March 19, creating huge excitement among fans and the film industry. Directed by Aditya Dhar and starring Ranveer Singh, the sequel has already set high expectations after the massive success of the first film.
The film has taken a strong start at the box office, helped by an impressive paid preview collection of nearly Rs 50 crore on March 18. According to early reports, more than 10 lakh tickets have already been sold, showing the film’s huge popularity even before its official release day. Trade experts believe that the film could earn close to Rs 100 crore over its opening weekend.
Ahead of the release of Dhurandhar: The Revenge, the Madras High Court has taken an important step to prevent piracy. The court has issued a temporary restraining order against the illegal streaming and broadcasting of the film. According to reports, the Madras High Court has directed internet service providers and cable TV operators not to stream or telecast the film unlawfully until April 15. The order was passed by Justice Senthilkumar Ramamoorthy after the film’s production house filed a petition expressing concerns about possible piracy.
In its plea, the producers stated that illegal streaming or broadcasting could cause significant financial losses. They highlighted the risk of the film being circulated on the internet or through cable networks without permission. The court noted that failure to act on such concerns could lead to “irreversible injury” to the rights holders. At the same time, it also acknowledged that some intermediaries may be affected, especially those with legitimate commercial interests.
To maintain a balance, the court directed the producers to compensate any affected parties if required. This ensures that both the rights of the filmmakers and the interests of intermediaries are considered. The next hearing in the case has been scheduled for April 15.
As per reports, the parent company of the production house had earlier filed a broader petition in February seeking stronger anti-piracy measures, but it has now been withdrawn.
