In Karachi, the widow of renowned Pakistani police officer Chaudhary Aslam—known for his encounter operations and fearless fight against terror and criminal gangs—has warned that she will pursue legal action if the upcoming Bollywood film Dhurandhar depicts her husband inaccurately or in a negative light. This came a day after Major Mohit Sharma's family approached the Delhi High Court seeking an urgent stay on the film’s release and screening.

The film’s recently released trailer hints at a narrative set in Karachi’s infamous Lyari neighbourhood, once controlled by rival criminal gangs. Veteran actor Sanjay Dutt plays the role of Chaudhary Aslam, the Pakistani police officer who was killed on January 9, 2014, when the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan’s Mohmand chapter claimed a bomb attack on his vehicle along the Lyari Expressway, which also took the lives of two other officers, including his driver and guard.

In an interview with Geo Digital, Naureen Aslam, the widow of Chaudhary Aslam, said she is awaiting the film’s release in Indian theatres on December 5 to understand how her husband has been depicted on screen. She expressed concern over the portrayal and noted that she can only judge the filmmakers’ approach once she watches the full movie. Naureen also objected to a dialogue featured in the trailer in which Aslam is referred to as the child of the “devil and a jinn,” calling it disrespectful and inappropriate.

For the unversed, Aslam was widely recognised for spearheading major law enforcement operations against Lyari’s notorious gangsters, including Rehman Dakait and Uzair Baloch, as well as Taliban militants. He had previously survived a bombing at his home in 2011, an attack that killed eight people.

Dhurandhar will mark the Ranveer Singh's lengthiest project to date. The final duration will be confirmed in the next 10 days. The publication cited a source saying, "Dhurandhar has a vast and expansive storyline. The focus is on Ranveer Singh's character and what he goes through, while other actors also play crucial parts. Director Aditya Dhar is clear that he doesn't want to rush through the narrative but, at the same time, wants to ensure that every scene engages and excites the audience."
