Did Rajinikanth’s Coolie Makers Copy Vijay Thalapathy’s Beast Fan Edits And Hollywood’s Rebel Moon Poster?

Coolie: As the buzz around Coolie grows stronger, the upcoming Tamil action movie starring Rajinikanth has landed in a poster controversy. While fans eagerly wait for the big-screen release, some have noticed striking similarities between Coolie’s posters and visuals from other popular films. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, Coolie stars Rajinikanth as Deva, a feared gangster who reunites with his old allies to fight a powerful new enemy. The film explores themes of revenge, loyalty, and secrets from the past.

Recently, a social media user on X (formerly Twitter) pointed out that some of the promotional posters of Coolie look quite similar to Hollywood films like Glass by M. Night Shyamalan and Rebel Moon by Zack Snyder. Designed by Gopi Prasannaa, the Coolie posters appear to copy the layout and styling of these international titles. The controversy doesn’t stop there. One of the posters released during a censor board update has also been compared to a fan-made poster for Beast, the 2022 Tamil movie starring Thalapathy Vijay. While it’s not confirmed whether these similarities are intentional or just a coincidence, the comparisons have gone viral among fans.

Despite the poster debate, the Tamil action movie’s team continues with its promotions. The trailer for Coolie was released at a grand event called Coolie Unleashed. Rajinikanth and Aamir Khan also attended the event at Chennai. The film’s full music album, featuring eight songs composed by Anirudh, is already out on streaming platforms and is expected to boost excitement further. The Tamil movie is slated to hit theatres on 14th August 2025.

Coolie boasts a powerful cast. Nagarjuna Akkineni plays the main villain, while Upendra Rao has a key role. Aamir Khan also makes a special appearance as a rugged character. Other important cast members include Sathyaraj, Soubin Shahir, Shruti Haasan, and Pooja Hegde, who stars in a dance number. Director Lokesh Kanagaraj has confirmed that Tamil action movie Coolie is not part of his Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU). Instead, it’s a standalone action drama, one of the most anticipated Tamil films of 2025  with Rajinikanth returning in a full-blown action avatar.
