Punjabi actor and singer Diljit Dosanjh has been receiving backlash amid release of his new movie Sardaar Ji 3. The film is under fire for casting Pakistani actress Hania Aamir alongside Dosanjh. Amid controversy, netizens have called out to ban the Punjabi actor from the country. They have also asked to remove him in upcoming film Border 2. Now, the question is if Diljit Dosanjh will be removed from Border 2?
According to Hindustan Times, a source within the Border 2 team said, “There is no plan to replace or remove Diljit from Border 2. The announcement about his casting was made almost nine months back, before any of the unfortunate situations had happened. Almost 40-50 percent of the film’s shooting has already been done, so making any change at this point is not possible.”
The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has urged Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Home Minister Amit Shah to withdraw the permission granted for filming Border 2 at the National Defence Academy (NDA) in Pune. The film's makers might respond to the issue soon.
White Hill Producer Breaks Silence On Sardaar Ji 3 Controversy
Producer and Managing Director of White Hill recently broke silence on the ongoing controversy. He told NDTV, "Those who are actively involved in the film industry and are aware of day-to-day activities, know that this film was shot in February-March 2025 itself. We shot it in the UK. There was no such atmosphere at that time, work was going on normally between the two countries. The whole atmosphere was normal."
"There was no restriction from the Government of India or any other institution. When we came to know about this attack, we decided that we would not release the film India, because we did not want to hurt the sentiments of our people in any way. We too were hurt by this incident. Keeping this honour in mind, we decided that the film will be released only overseas because our major investment is there. There was no restriction from any government overseas, so it was decided to release there. We did not put the trailer on YouTube in India, nor did we do any kind of promotional activities," he noted.
