Shatrughan Kumar Yadav, better known as Khesari Lal Yadav, is a popular actor and singer in Bhojpuri cinema. After gaining success in the film industry, the actor has stepped in the world of politics. In October this year, Khesari was declared as Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) candidate from Chapra, Bihar Assembly constituency for the 2025 Bihar Legislative Assembly election. Amid the polls, there is a fact about the actor-turned-politician’s education resurfaced.
Khesari Lal Yadav was born on March 15, 1986, in the Chhapra area, Bihar. As per reports, he was born in a low-income family. His father, Mangaru Lal Yadav, who worked as a street vendor, sold Chana in the mornings and as a security guard at night. His father used to live in Delhi, while his brothers lived in Chapra. Later, his mother also helped his father earn money while Khesari started living with his brothers and uncle. Since childhood, the actor was not inclined towards academics. As per reports, he studied in a government school in Chhapra. As his family was not financially strong, Khesari Lal Yadav decided to quit education after class 10. He then started helping his family financially. Yadav used to graze cattle and sell their milk. After quitting education, he started pursuing his career in acting in the late 90s. He started his acting career being a theatre artist in Bihar. During this time, he used to sing in Ramayana and Mahabharata. Meanwhile, he also learned the Bhojpuri folk dance Launda Naach.

After he received immense success as a singer, he then moved to work in film. He then made his acting debut with 2012 Bhojpuri movie, Sajan Chale Sasural. He has since worked in over 100 Bhojpuri and Bollywood movies with a record of singing over 5000 songs. The actor is known for his work in movies like Mehandi Laga Ke Rakhna, Apradhi, Doli Saja Ke Rakhna, Sangharsh 2, Rang De Basanti, Rang De Basanti, Muqaddar, Farishta and Litti Chokha to name a few. The actor was last seen in Conflict 2 in the lead role. The movie was released in theatres in 2023.
