Helmed by Mohit Suri, Awarapan etched its mark on the hearts of millennials, as well as the new generation. Due to melancholic music and atmospheric cinematography, the 2007 movie has created a cult fanbase. But this was not the case at the time of its release. The movie failed to connect with the audience at that time, but after several years, it again made a comeback as one of the classics of Bollywood. Awarapan starred Emraan Hashmi, Shriya Saran, Mrinalini Sharma and Ashutosh Rana in pivotal roles. Among these, actor Emraan Hashmi, the leading hero, is coming back to spread his magical charm with the olive’s sequel, but with a new cast.

Now directed by Nitin Kakkar, Awarapan 2 will feature Emraan Hashmi as Shivam Pandit, his old character. Reportedly, actress Disha Patani has been roped in opposite the Crook hero. Interestingly, Disha was not the first choice for this role. According to a report in Hindustan Times, the makers wanted to cast Manushi Chhillar for the upcoming project.

"Manushi was approached by the makers to play the female lead in the sequel, but she didn't take up the project as she is currently in talks for a big film hence, the makers considered casting Disha Patani opposite Emraan Hashmi," a source claimed in the reports. It would have been interesting to see Miss World star opposite the kissing king of Bollywood.

On the professional front, Manushi Chhillar was recently seen in the gangster drama Maalik alongside Rajkummar Rao and the spy thriller Tehran alongside John Abraham. Apart from the movie world, the actress has launched the wellness brand Soma Wellness and the sustainable fashion line Dweep in 2024, showcasing her growing presence in the business world. According to the buzz, Manushi can be seen in upcoming Bollywood masala movies like Welcome To the Jungle, Race 4 and No Entry 2.

On the other hand, actor Emraan Hashmi was recently seen in the action thriller Ground Zero (2025), where he played a BSF Deputy Commandant. Soon, he will also make his Telugu debut in the gangster film They Call Him OG.
