120 Bahadur: Farhan Akhtar has unexpectedly found himself at the centre of a political controversy after a recent interview promoting his new war film 120 Bahadur. The actor-director was asked to name his favourite Indian Prime Minister, and his answer has triggered a heated debate on social media, with many calling for his boycott while others strongly defending him. Released on November , the war drama is directed by Razneesh Ghai and is based on the Battle of Rezang La during the 1962 Indo-China war. Farhan plays Major Shaitan Singh, who led 120 Indian soldiers in a heroic stand against nearly 3,000 Chinese troops. The film aims to honour these unsung heroes and highlight their bravery.

During his appearance on Unfiltered by Samdish, host Samdish Bhatia asked Farhan Akhtar to pick a ‘favourite PM’. Farhan initially laughed, calling it an ‘absurd question’, but eventually replied that he admired India’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru. He explained that Nehru had ‘the largest foresight’ and led India “in a scientific direction”, adding that he respected him greatly. As clips from the conversation spread across social media platforms, reactions came in fast. A large number of users began criticising Farhan for praising Nehru. The hashtag demanding a boycott of Farhan Akhtar soon started trending.

Meanwhile, one user wrote, “Boycott Farhan”, while another commented that Nehru was ‘the worst leader of India’. Several users also warned him to “be careful”, pointing out that other public figures have been attacked for making similar remarks. One also supported him and  wrote, “Beautifully said by Farhan Akhtar. Nehru didn’t just lead India, he imagined India’s future.” Another added that this was ‘the greatest truth in Indian history’.

On the other hand, the 120 Bahadur team also met Defence Minister Rajnath Singh after the release. Despite the political storm surrounding his remarks, Farhan Akhtar has not issued any further statement.

120 Bahadur Box Office Collection

Farhan Akhtar’s film 120 Bahadur continues to draw attention for different reasons. 120 Bahadur opened to mixed reviews and earned around Rs 2.25 crore on its first day. Its opening weekend collection reached approximately Rs 10 crore in India. Audiences praised the cinematography and background score, though some felt that the emotional scenes did not blend smoothly with the intense battle sequences.
