The nation is mourning the loss of late Punjabi singer Rajvir Jawanda. However, many didn't know that he was earlier associated with the Punjab Police. Jawanda's background adds to his distinct personality in the Punjabi music industry. Coming from a disciplined family, his father being a Punjab Police officer, Rajvir initially followed in his footsteps but ultimately pursued music, his true passion.

From an ex-cop to Singer- making of Rajvir Jawanda

Rajvir's father was an Assistant Sub-Inspector in Punjab Police, which led the singer enter into the same profession as a constable in 2011. Despite his commitment to public service, Jawanda harbored a profound passion for music, which he often cited as his true calling. This dual interest ultimately led him to make a life-altering decision, as he resigned from the police force in 2019 to dedicate himself entirely to his musical aspirations. This shift led to the beginning of his rise to fame.

His eventual success in the music world saw him deliver popular tracks like Shaokeen, Kangani, Landlord and Munde Pind De, which solidified his status as a major player in Punjabi music. This strong, disciplined image, stemming from his ex-cop background, often shone through in his music and vocal style.

Rajvir's promising career was tragically stopped following a severe road accident on September 27, 2025, as he traveled to Shimla. The crash left him with life-threatening head and spine injuries, placing him in the ICU of a Mohali hospital on life support. The entire community, including residents of his village Pauna, came together to hold organised prayers for his recovery but on Wednesday, Jawanda passed away after battling for life and death for 11 days.
