Gustaakh Ishq Box Office Collection Day 1: Vijay Varma and Fatima Sana Shaikh’s much-awaited romantic drama Gustaakh Ishq released in cinemas on November 28, 2025. The film also marks the directorial debut of celebrated fashion designer Manish Malhotra, who has stepped into filmmaking with a story rooted in emotion, poetry and old-world charm. Viewers have praised the film for its visual beauty, heartfelt storytelling and strong performances from the lead cast. Many have described it as a timeless love story made for the big screen.
According to Sacnilk, Gustaakh Ishq has minted Rs 50 lakh on its opening day. The film had an overall 8.61 per cent Hindi occupancy on Wednesday. It had 3.62 per cent in the morning shows, 4.89 per cent in the afternoon shows, 4.97 per cent in the evening shows and 20.96 per cent in the night shows. The movie is facing major box office clash with Dhanush and Kriti Sanon starrer Tere Ishk Mein which was also released yesterday and minted Rs 16.50 crore on its opening day.
Gustaakh Ishq OTT Release
According to a report by OTT Play, Gustaakh Ishq is expected to arrive on JioHostar after its theatrical run. The film is likely to stream online sometime between late December 2025 and late January 2026.
Gustaakh Ishq Plot
Along with Vijay Varma and Fatima Sana Shaikh, the romance drama features Naseeruddin Shah as Aziz, also known as Babba, and Sharib Hashmi as Attachie. The film has been written by Vibhu Puri and Prasshant Jha and directed by Vibhu Puri. It has been produced by Manish Malhotra and Dinesh Malhotra. The film follows the life of Nawabuddin Saifuddin Rahman, played by Vijay Varma, who is trying to save his father’s printing press in Old Delhi. In this journey, he becomes a disciple of Aziz, a retired poet portrayed by Naseeruddin Shah. As he spends more time with the family, he falls in love with Aziz’s daughter, Minni, played by Fatima Sana Shaikh, who works as a teacher. Rahman soon finds himself torn between his love for Minni and his loyalty to the mentor who changed his life. This emotional conflict forms the heart of the story, exploring themes of honour, sacrifice and the beauty of old-school romance.

Meanwhile, speaking about his debut as a producer under Stage5 Production, Manish Malhotra shared that he wanted to bring back ‘classic, timeless love’ to cinema. He said audiences rarely see purity, simplicity and soulful music in today’s films, and Gustaakh Ishq brings all of that back. Gustaakh Ishq-Kuchh Pehle Jaisa for its international cut, also had its official premiere at the 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa on November 24. For Malhotra, the premiere marks an important milestone as he begins his journey in cinema with a story filled with nostalgia, poetry and heartfelt emotions.
