Huma Qureshi’s upcoming movie Bayaan is an investigative thriller that revolves around a female detective solving her first case in a small town of Rajasthan. Huma’s character finds herself entangled in the web of religion, power and a system built on the influence of her opponent. With the struggle to live up to her father’s reputation in law enforcement, Huma’s character gets head-on with the deep-rooted patriarchy system in rural India.

Huma Qureshi has been seen in several roles ranging from a comedic character to a glam diva, but this will be her first role as a serious investigative officer. The makers of the movie recently unveiled the poster of Bayaan on Instagram and announced that the film has been selected to premiere at the 50th Toronto International Film Festival 2025. It has made history as it is the only Indian movie to be screened under the Discovery Section of the film festival.

Sharing the wonderful news with the world, the makers posted the first look with the caption, "A rookie detective. An impossible case. Here’s your first look at Bayaan, all set to have its World Premiere at TIFF 2025. We’re proud to be the only film from India selected for the prestigious Discovery section. A story that felt urgent to tell - made with passion, purpose, and an incredible team".

Excited netizens reacted to the poster and congratulated the team for the great achievement. One person commented, “So thrilled to see your movie at TIFF! Congratulations! Wishing you all the best for the festival!” Another user wrote, “Couldn’t be happier for all of you! Well done!”

The post also received attention from some popular Bollywood celebrities. Actor Rajkummar Rao commented, “Heartiest congratulations.” His wife Patralekhaa also wrote, “Yay”, followed by emojis. Alia Bhatt’s mother Soni Razdan also expressed her joy and wrote, “Amazing. Congratulations Shila and team ! You always manage to pull it off.”

Helmed by Bikas Ranjan Mishra, the movie stars Chandrachur Singh, Sachin Khedekar, Paritosh Sand, Avijit Dutt, Vibhore Mayank, Sampa Mandal, Swati Das, Aditi Kanchan Singh, Huma Qureshi and Perry Chhabra.
