A surprising detail in Dhurandhar, starring Ranveer Singh, has set social media buzzing with speculation about a possible connection to Vicky Kaushal’s Uri: The Surgical Strike. As Aditya Dhar’s latest spy thriller dominates the box office, fans have begun to dissect every frame and one discovery has now gone viral. In Dhurandhar, Ranveer Singh plays Hamza, a hardened convict handpicked by Intelligence Bureau chief Ajay Sanyal (R. Madhavan) to infiltrate the criminal underworld of Pakistan’s Lyari region. Towards the climax, the film unveils Hamza’s real identity: he is actually Jaskirat Singh Rangi, a prisoner sent on a high-risk mission for national redemption. This name instantly caught the attention of fans because it appears in Uri too.
In the 2019 film Uri, Vicky Kaushal’s character Vihaan meets Flight Lieutenant Seerat Kaur (Kirti Kulhari), whose late husband was a martyred Army officer. She identifies him as Captain Jaskirat Singh Rangi, killed in action during an ambush in the Naushera Sector. The matching name sent fans into detective mode. Many believed this couldn’t be a coincidence, especially since both films are directed by Aditya Dhar. One user wrote, “Dhurandhar and Uri are connected, with Ranveer Singh’s character Jaskirat Singh Rangi introduced in Uri. He’s an Indian spy infiltrating Pakistan’s underworld to take down a gangster–ISI nexus.” Another posted, “This has to be deliberate. Same director, same universe?”

While the theory gained traction quickly, several fans pointed out timeline inconsistencies. Uri is set around the 2016 surgical strike, whereas Dhurandhar begins in 2002. This makes the idea of both Jaskirat characters being the same person unlikely. Some viewers argued that the shared name might simply be a creative nod from the director rather than an actual crossover. “Maybe Dhar reused the name as an Easter egg, not as part of a linked universe,” a fan commented on X.
