Deepika Padukone’s Exit From Kalki Sequel

Deepika Padukone’s departure from Kalki 2898 AD 2 first came to light in September 2025. Around the same time, she also exited director Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Spirit. Reports suggested that Deepika had already shot for nearly 20 days for the Kalki sequel before leaving due to a fee-related issue. However, neither Deepika nor the film’s makers have publicly commented on the reasons behind her exit.

In the first film, Deepika played SUM-80, also known as Sumati, a pregnant test subject in Project K and the prophesied mother of Kalki. Her character was pivotal to the story. In the Telugu version, the role was dubbed by Sobhita Dhulipala. After escaping Supreme Yaskin’s lab, played by Kamal Haasan, SUM-80 is protected by Amitabh Bachchan’s Ashwatthama, setting up major storylines for the sequel.

What’s Next For Sai Pallavi And Deepika Padukone?
