Javed Akhtar arrived at the Bombay Central Station sixty-one years years ago. He expressed his sincere gratitude on social media by sharing the story of the 19-year-old who went on to accomplish a great deal in Mumbai, Maharashtra. The screenwriter and lyricist described the difficulties he encountered on October 4, 1964, when he arrived in Mumbai for the first time.
Javed Akhtar disclosed that on October 4, 1964, at the age of 19, he landed in Mumbai with a mere 27 paisa in his pocket. He described experiencing homelessness, malnutrition, and unemployment, among other afflictions. Despite everything, he is incredibly appreciative of the love he received along the way from Mumbai, the state of Maharashtra, and his nation, India.
Javed Akhtar said, "On 4th October 1964 a 19 year old boy had disembarked at Bombay central station with 27 naya paisa in his pocket . Went through homelessness , starvation , unemployment but when I look at the grand total i feel life has been too kind to me . For that I can not but help but thank Mumbai , Maharashtra, my country and all those who looked at work kindly. Thank you , thank you so much (sic)."

Javed Akhtar married Honey Irani in 1972, and the two of them have two kids - Zoya Akhtar and Farhan Akhtar. In 1984, their 11-year marriage ended in divorce. His unsuccessful marriage to Honey was attributed to his drunkenness. He claimed that all of his resentment was bottled up inside of him since the culture he was taught in Lucknow forbade him from using profanity.

Javed Akhtar admitted to Mojo Story that he began drinking when he was between the ages of 20 and 21 and stopped when he was 42. He claimed to be able to purchase a bottle and to consume one nearly every night.
Javed Akhtar is well-known for composing hits like Deewar (1975), Sholay (1975), Zanjeer (1973), Don (1978), and Mr. India (1987), among others, alongside his then-colleague Salim Khan. He has also composed music for movies over the years, including Raees, Talaash, Jodhaa Akbar, Dil Chahta Hai, and Gully Boy.
