Actor Kalki Koechlin revealed that Bollywood is in crisis. The actress stated that the film industry is going through a recession that is why they are re-releasing everything. She further added that everyone from the top to the bottom rung is ‘stuck’ in a limbo as they are confused about where it’s headed.

On Aleena Descent's podcast, Kalki said, “There’s a Bollywood recession; that’s why they’re re-releasing everything. There’s no content. It’s not working. So, everything has been stalled. Even they know but they’re scared. They don’t know what’s working, what isn’t. So, everything is stalled, everything is stuck.”

“Creative teams are being fired, and re-hired. They just don’t know why it’s not working. And people don’t realise there’s this crisis going on. And from top to bottom, I’ve spoken to people. On top, people are spending crores of money and not finding platforms to release them. And there are the chotu (small) actors who haven’t had work in two years,” she went on to state.

Kalki also opened up on why she attended ex-husband Anurag Kashyap’s daughter’s wedding. “So much time has passed. We have both moved on in our lives. It’s just not that one person you know. It’s all the people around them as well, especially in our industry. You don’t suddenly cut links with all those people. There are 300-400 new people you know because of this partner you were with for six years. So, obviously, those ties are not suddenly going to disappear, so we will be in touch," she explained.

She went on to state, “That’s the wonderful thing you get out of breaking up, that there is a whole network of other people you have met because of that person. And even if you can’t talk to that person for some time, which happened after we broke up, we did have to give ourselves some boundaries and be like ‘I don’t want to see you for some time’ but the others, I kept seeing and that’s normal, I think’.”
