Katrina Kaif's performance in Raajneeti, one of the most ambitious political dramas of the time, is still remembered by fans. The actress surprised everyone with her meticulous preparation and dedication to the part. The Hindi-language political thriller, directed by Prakash Jha, was released in 2010.
Katrina Kaif starrer political drama is said to be Prakash Jha's most costly movie, wherein he spent five years on the script alone. The movie also starred Ranbir Kapoor, Ajay Devgan, Nana Patekar, Arjun Rampal and Manoj Bajpayee in significant roles. Raajneeti movie's screenwriter, Anjum Rajabali and director revisited the time with SCREEN as it completes 10 years.

"Raajneeti was a broader socio-political drama based on reality, but resonating with the Mahabharata. The characters are all the same everywhere, as they were back in the epic," Prakash Jha recalled.
Katrina Kaif's Indu Based On Draupadi?
Katrina Kaif's transformation in Raajneeti was impressive. Even while the original aspects of the epic were modified to fit a contemporary environment, Anjum Rajabali revealed that her character, Indu, was closely based on Draupadi.

"We couldn't pick Draupadi’s angle as it is because the fight between husbands for her and all that jazz doesn’t quite work today. But it stayed with me after reading the epic that Draupadi loved Arjuna, but he was too focused on ambition. So there was an unrequited love," recalls Anjum Rajabali.
Raajneeti screenwriter had concerns about Katrina handling Hindi-heavy script, but the director was convinced she’d deliver. He said, "Katrina is a very hardworking actor. She worked with so much dedication. She learnt her lines for 30-40 days so she could deliver them confidently."
Katrina Kaif, the movie's leading heroine, was accused of portraying Congress president Sonia Gandhi in a narrative based on the Gandhi family.
