Mahesh Babu’s 2010 classic movie Khaleja re-released in theatres in 4K to mark its legacy. Large crowds flocked to the theatres across Telugu states. However, the enjoyment soon turned into chaos when fans realised that the re-release featured a significantly edited version of the film—with key scenes, songs and dialogues missing. A slew of videos have been surfacing online in which fans could be seen protesting inside theatres.

Disappointed fans were seen demanding explanations about the trimmed version of the movie. The intense argument soon transformed into vandalism. A fan wrote on X, “Songs, scenes, and dialogues are missing from the film. What are we supposed to do with this re-release? That’s why fans are creating a ruckus.”

"Orey song cut chesaru ani chepali kadha raa mundhey fans tho aatalu adadhu @KhalejaTheFilm direct adham pagal d*****u manolu cinema api d*****u, Sunday monday song ledhu movie lo. (Don’t you need to tell fans beforehand if you’re cutting out footage? Fans broke glass here and stopped the film from playing. Sunday Monday song is missing)," wrote another fan.

A fan reacted, "Sunday Monday song ledu. Nalo naku devudu kanipisthunnadu scene ledu. Evadu kodite dhimma thirigi dialogue ledu. Chesthe comedy nene cheyali scene ledu.. inka em chesukodaniki ee re release. Worst planning ra @KhalejaTheFilm #Khaleja4K. Anduke ee gola theatre lopala. (Songs, scenes and dialogues are missing from the film, what are we supposed to do with this re-release? That’s why fans are creating a ruckus)."

About Khaleja: Despite receiving positive reviews, the film Khaleja, featuring Anushka Shetty, Prakash Raj and Rao Ramesh, among others, underperformed at the box office initially. However, over time, it has gained a cult following and is now regarded as one of the greatest Telugu films of all time.
