Kuberaa Tamil Box Office: Kuberaa has been earning impressive collections at the Telugu box office, but the film didn't meet the expectations in Tamil Nadu despite having a star-studded cast including Dhanush, Rashmika Mandanna and Nagaarunja. Since its release in theatres on June 20, the movie has garnered a mixed response and faced a box office clash with Aamir Khan starrer Sitaare Zameen Par. Kuberaa filmmaker Sekhar Kammula recently reacted to the film's underperformance in the domestic Tamil market.

Sekhar Kammula Reaction On Kuberaa In Tamil

In a recent interview with OTTplay, Shekhar shared the reasons for Kuberaa's underperformance in Tamil cinema. He said, "In Telugu, it has been exceptional. Even the overseas Tamil circuit is going well. But the domestic Tamil market, I was expecting lot more, and I hope it would catch up, because the word of mouth is strong but it is not converting into box office."

Kuberaa was shot simultaneously in Tamil and Telugu, which was released in pan-India but didn't leave an impact in Tamil Nadu. Kammula hopes to reach audiences in the Tamil domestic market too in the coming days.

In the same interview, he praised Dhanush for his performance as a beggar. He thinks that actors often don't take up such roles and stories. Kuberaa director added, “I was in awe of him and thought it was a moment of pride. So, I thought it would catch on in Tamil and really hope that it happens. It is not common that this kind of stories come up often and people take up such roles. I thought it is a special thing and I have a hope."
