The Oh My God universe is set to expand further, promising a wave of nostalgia for Bollywood fans. The third instalment of the blockbuster franchise, OMG 3, is reportedly shaping up to be one of its most exciting chapters yet, thanks to a major casting development that has set social media buzzing. In what is being called a massive casting coup, Rani Mukerji has allegedly joined Akshay Kumar for the film. The pairing is especially significant as it brings together two of the most celebrated stars of the 1990s, whose on-screen collaboration has long been a fan wish.

What makes this casting even more surprising is that OMG 3 will mark the first time Rani Mukerji and Akshay Kumar share screen space in a feature film.

According to Pinkvilla, a source close to the development said, "This is easily one of the biggest castings in recent years. Oh My God is among Akshay Kumar’s most loved franchises, and it’s only getting bigger with Rani Mukerji joining the film. Her presence will add immense gravitas and freshness to the narrative."

The upcoming instalment will see Akshay Kumar reuniting with director Amit Rai, who successfully helmed OMG 2 and guided it to commercial success. While the earlier films in the franchise addressed themes such as blind faith and sex education, OMG 3 is said to be aiming even higher by exploring an even more daring subject. Currently in the pre-production phase, the film is expected to go on floors by mid-2026.

The makers are reportedly putting in extra effort to ensure that the third instalment not only matches but also honours the formidable legacy created by the previous films in the franchise. The source added, "Director Amit Rai has cracked a story that is bigger, more relevant, and hard-hitting than the previous instalments. Akshay was clear that OMG 3 had to scale up in every aspect, from story, emotions, to performances, and Rani coming on board has made the film even bigger."
