Pankaj Tripathi has lost his mother Hemwanti Devi, who passed away peacefully at the family’s ancestral home in Belsand, Gopalganj, Bihar. She breathed her last at the age of 89 years old and had been unwell for some time. The actor rushed to Bihar to spend her final moments with her. Two years ago, in 2023, Pankaj lost his father, Pandit Banaras Tiwari, at the age of 99. The actor’s team shared the news of his mother's demise through a statement on behalf of him and his family. She passed away on Friday, and her cremation took place on Saturday in Belsand, in the presence of close family members, and friends.

According to an official statement shared by Pankaj Tripathi's team, "We are deeply saddened to inform you of the passing of Shri Pankaj Tripathi’s beloved mother, Smt. Hemwanti Devi, who left for her heavenly abode peacefully at the family’s hometown in Belsand, Gopalganj, Bihar, on Friday. She was 89 years old and had been unwell for some time. She passed away peacefully in her sleep, surrounded by her loved ones. Pankaj Tripathi was by her side during her final moments."

The family also urged everyone to respect their privacy during this difficult time and allow them to grieve the loss in peace. The statement stated, "The Tripathi family is mourning this immense loss and humbly request everyone to keep Smt. Hemwanti Devi in their thoughts and prayers. The family also requests the media and well-wishers to respect their privacy during this period of grief and allow them time to mourn in peace."

Earlier, the actor's father, Pandit Banaras Tiwari, died on August 21, 2023, at their native village. At that time, Pankaj Tripathi was in Mumbai promoting OMG 2 and immediately rushed back to Bihar for the last rites.

Before stepping itno acting, Pankaj Tripathi assisted his father, who was a priest and cultivator, and later dicsover his passion for acting. After moving to Mumbai, he worked in several small roles before rising to fame with Gangs of Wasseypur, directed by Anurag Kashyap. Since then, he has never looked back.

Pankaj won a National Award for his performance in film Mimi. He received the Best Supporting Actor award at the 69th National Film Awards. He dedicated it to his late father, who passed away earlier that year.

He has also credited his mother for instilling in him discipline, humility, and compassion, values that have kept him always grounded.
