Dhurandhar: Veteran actor Rakesh Bedi has addressed the criticism surrounding a viral moment from the Dhurandhar trailer launch, where he was accused of kissing his co-star Sara Arjun on stage. The video has gone viral on the internet with many criticising his gesture. Calling the allegations ‘stupid,’ the 71-year-old clarified that the moment has been taken completely out of context.

Speaking to Hindustan Times, Rakesh Bedi explained that Sara Arjun, who plays his daughter in the film, shares a warm and respectful rapport with him. “She is less than half my age and plays my daughter. She would often greet me with a hug during the shoot, just like a daughter would with her father,” he said. Bedi also pointed out that Sara’s parents were present at the event, questioning the logic behind claims of inappropriate behaviour. “Why would I do anything with ill intent publicly on a stage?” he added. The actor further stated that his decades-long body of work and the love of his audience speak louder than online speculation.

Furthermore Rakesh Bedi stated, “It was no different that day, but people are not seeing the affection there. The affection of an elderly man towards a young girl. Dekhne wale ki aankh mein gadbad hai to kya kar sakte ho.” He also added, “I tell you, I am not safeguarding myself. My voluminous body of work, which has touched people, is doing it for me. I recently went to a dinner with friends, and a lady approached me. Her son is physically and mentally challenged, but he loves my work and can comprehend it. That speaks more for me than anything will.”
