Ramayana first glimpse is out. Nitesh Tiwari's highly ambitious adaptation of Ramayana has been making waves in the film industry and its grandeur has been the talk of the town. As the biggest Indian film ever made, Ramayana's anticipation has been building up significantly. Backed by Namit Malhotra's Prime Focus Studios, the film's massive production scale and star-studded cast have generated immense excitement among fans and industry insiders alike.
The run-up to the film's big launch saw a surge in buzz not just for the movie itself but also for the studio, which in turn led to a notable upswing in Prime Focus' fortunes on the stock market, reflecting investor confidence and enthusiasm for the project.
Prime Focus, listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), had a strong week after its board approved the issue of 462.7 million equity shares on a preferential basis. This led to a 30 per cent surge in the company's share price, from Rs 113.47 to Rs 149.69, between June 25 and July 1. The momentum continued with the release of Ramayana's first glimpse, which gave the Namit Malhotra-led company another significant boost.
Prime Focus' shares surged to Rs 176 on July 3, the day of Ramayana's first glimpse launch, driven by heightened buzz around the event. This peak share price led to a significant increase in the company's market capitalization, from Rs 4638 crore on July 1 to a peak of Rs 5641 crore. The surge resulted in a Rs 1000 crore gain in the makers' holdings within just two days. By market close, the share price settled at Rs 169, with the company's market cap around Rs 5200 crore.
Ranbir Kapoor's Investment In Prime Focus
Ranbir Kapoor, the star of Ramayana, is set to become an investor in Prime Focus Studios, the film's production house. He will acquire 1.25 million shares of the company, worth approximately Rs 20 crore at current market value, after the company's board approved the issuance of new shares.
