The controversy surrounding comedian Pranit More and his viral “Rs 370 biryani” stand-up clip continues to generate heated discussions across social media platforms. The clip has divided opinion online, with some viewers defending it as a harmless joke and others criticising the content, leading to a wider debate about the boundaries of comedy and audience sensitivity. Amid the ongoing backlash, actor and former Bigg Boss contestant Ranvir Shorey stepped forward in support of comedians.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Shorey shared his views on the controversy and backed the stand-up comedy community, joining the growing conversation surrounding artistic freedom, humor, and public reactions to comedy. His remarks have since added a new dimension to the debate, drawing attention from both supporters and critics online.
Ranvir Shorey wrote on X, "Stop outraging over comedy, India! A society that disrespects comedy and comedians slowly loses the ability to introspect. Jai comedy!"

Shorey's post received several reactions with a majourity of people criticising his thoughts. A user commented, "Humor and Passive Aggression have a thin red line. When that line is breached, SM does outrage - Think of it as a phase of Social Norming . Indians are extremely tolerant of comedy, The avg Dinner Table in Indian homes is the best example of it. However it’s time we draw our red lines about what’s funny and what’s aggression or perversion packed as comedy."

To this, Shorey replied, "No, online outrage over jokes and comedy has become a platform for attention seekers and seethers! Many of them anonymous. Regular folks just trying to have a good laugh are being targeted for nothing!"
Another user wrote in comments section, "Say hi to your mom for me and remind her she still owes me Rs 370," the actor replied, "She said you didn’t clean the toilet properly with your tongue, so you’re not getting it."
A user also suggested Ranvir Shorey to open his independent party, named NCP (National Comedy Party). The actor laughed it off and dropped clap emoticons.
