Raveena Tandon has raised her voice against Air India’s pet travel policy, saying it often causes unnecessary trouble for pet parents. Known for her love for animals, Raveena compared Air India’s strict rules to Akasa Air’s newly announced flexible system, which allows passengers to travel with two pets in the cabin. Taking to social media, she asked Air India to learn from Akasa Air’s progressive approach. Her remarks quickly caught attention, sparking fresh debate on how Indian airlines treat animal companions.

Raveena Tandon took to X (formerly Twitter) and shared an article about Akasa Air’s new policy, which makes pet travel easier and more comfortable. In her post, she directly tagged Air India and wrote, "Take a cue @airindia. Sometimes, you all put pet parents through a lot of inconvenience. Our babies are better behaved than most of some human passengers you get on board." Her strong words highlight the struggles pet owners often face while travelling on Air India flights. At present, Air India does allow pets, but with restrictions. Cats, dogs, and birds are permitted, but the combined weight of the animal and carrier must not exceed 5 kg to travel in the cabin. Any pet heavier than that has to be transported in the cargo hold. Passengers also need to provide medical clearance and complete extensive paperwork, which many travellers find inconvenient. Like all airlines, the final decision rests with the captain of the flight.

Meanwhile, Raveena’s words carry weight because she is known to be deeply committed to animal welfare. Also, this is not the first time Raveena has spoken about Air India. Just a few months ago, after the crash of its London-bound flight AI171 in Ahmedabad, she had shared a heartfelt post on Instagram, praising the airline and showing solidarity with its crew. She wrote, "New Beginnings … to rise and fly again against all odds … to pick up and start all over, new resolve towards greater strength. The atmosphere solemn, and the crews' welcoming smiles were tinted with sadness. The Silent passengers and crew are bonding with unspoken condolences and subtle confidence. Condolences to the families that have lost their loved ones. A wound that will never heal. Godspeed always @airindia. Fearless and a will to overcome and be strong again."

On the other hand, Akasa Air’s newly introduced pet-friendly system has been welcomed widely by animal lovers. The airline’s policy says, "With Pets on Akasa, a total of three pets are allowed on a flight - two pets can be carried in the cabin and one in the cargo compartment. Booking your pet’s travel at least 24 hours before your flight is mandatory to ensure adequate preparations." This clear and inclusive policy has made Akasa Air stand out as one of the most pet-friendly airlines in India, and Raveena’s praise has helped spotlight the issue.
