Subhash Ghai has hailed Aditya Chopra and Mohit Suri for the enormous success of Saiyaara, describing it as a turning point for Hindi commercial films. The celebrated filmmaker praised the romantic musical on Sunday for exhibiting that balanced production values, casting Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda and an endearing plot can outperform extravagant marketing strategies and star power.

Subhash Ghai emphasised that viewers are more than willing to accept well-made, emotionally stirring movies with the correct actors, whether they are well-known or up-and-coming. "When a new star-cast film creates a wave at the box office, it sends us a clear message to investors and producers not to make an overbudget film more than a good story needs—not to invest in main actors more than your production cost—no money spent on stars' whims—no extra spend on marketing stunts," he said.

Subhash Ghai described Saiyaara as a film that has 'made history today,' attributing its popularity to its excellent directing, well-written screenplay, catchy soundtrack, and well chosen ensemble. "My heartiest congratulations to Adi Chopra n Mohit Suri for proving the fundamental principles of film making a Hindi commercial cinema and made a film 'Saiyaaira' a history today," the filmmaker added.

With Rs 83 crore in its first weekend of release, Saiyaara has dominated the box office. The movie made an incredible Rs 37 crore on Sunday alone, solidifying its place as one of the top Bollywood hits of 2025. Powerhouses like Chhaava (Rs 121.43 crore), Housefull 5 (Rs 91.83 crore), and Sikandar (Rs 86.44 crore) are barely ahead of Saiyaara, which now has one of the top five opening weekends of the year thanks to this momentum.

The film tells the tale of Vaani Batra, a reclusive former singer-turned-lyricist played by Aneet, and Krish Kapoor, an ardent aspiring singer played by Ahaan. When fate brings them together to collaborate on a song, music quickly turns into romance and, ultimately, heartache.
