Salman Khan's latest movie Sikandar, has suffered a significant financial setback. Directed by AR Murugadoss and produced by Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment (NGE), the action movie was leaked online a day before its scheduled Eid 2025 release. This premature leak reportedly led to a massive loss of Rs 91 crore. Starring Salman Khan and Rashmika Mandanna, Sikandar ultimately underperformed at the box office, reportedly collecting only Rs 100 crore in India and Rs 175 crore globally.
According to a report in Bollywood Hungama, the pirated HD version was circulated widely through platforms like Tamilrockers, Movierulz, and Filmyzilla even before the first show hit theatres. “An audit was commissioned to assess the extent of the leak and the resulting impact on revenue. Ernst & Young (EnY) submitted a comprehensive report that pegged the loss at approximately Rs. 91 crore," the report stated. The audit reportedly measured the difference between projected and actual earnings following the leak. Advanced tracking tools were used to monitor illegal downloads and streams, calculating the financial damage caused to the film’s theatrical and digital revenue.

“Such audits often include a blend of data from ticketing platforms, distributor reports, and forensic tracing of piracy dissemination," the report added. “The Rs 91 crore figure wasn’t arbitrary – it is rooted in a loss of potential theatrical and digital revenue," the report further claimed.
Meanwhile, the pirated version of the Sikandar movie notably featured scenes that were not included in the theatrical release. These covered medical students' encounter with Sikandar in Dharavi, an extended flashback detailing Kamaruddin’s health struggles, and a poignant conversation where Sikandar discovers Rashmika Mandanna’s character’s aspiration to be a lawyer.

Additionally, the leaked version also contained a pre-interval segment showcasing the difficulties faced by Sikandar’s team, a deleted scene depicting Vaidehi’s suicide attempt, and an emotional cab ride with vadams. The presence of these unreleased sequences in the pirated version strongly suggests the leak occurred post-CBFC clearance.
With losses piling up, the makers of Sikandar movie are reportedly filing an insurance claim to recover damages. This situation highlights significant concerns regarding content security in the digital era, particularly for big-budget Bollywood productions.
