Calling his decision brave, she said artists sometimes feel the need to pause and reconnect with themselves. In a recent interview, the singer spoke about Arijit’s honest relationship with music and also reflected on her own approach to performing, live concerts, and the importance of authenticity in a singer’s journey.
Shreya Ghoshal Reacts To Arijit Singh’s Retirement Decision
In an interview with ABP News, Shreya spoke about Arijit Singh’s announcement to stop taking new playback assignments in films. She described the move as bold, especially for someone who is at the height of his career.
She admitted that she sometimes thinks about taking time away from work. She said, “I also feel like taking a break sometimes. He took that decision very bravely. He is a musician from the heart. He doesn’t think about why he is making music or what he will get from it. He just does what makes him happy.”

Shreya Ghosal’s Opinion On Live Singing
While speaking about her own career, Shreya mentioned that singing in front of the audience is a part of her being. She highlighted the importance of being genuine in front of the audience.
It has also been made clear by the singer that lip-syncing in concerts is something that Shreya can never think of. She mentioned, “I feel very uncomfortable with that. I will stop singing the day I have to do that.”
Arijit Singh Announced His Retirement On 27th January 2026
This year, Arijit Singh had told his fans that he would no longer take any new assignments for singing in films. He had given this information to his fans via a message on X.
Arijit had written, “Hello, Happy New Year to all. I want to thank you all for giving me so much love all these years as listeners. I am happy to announce that I am not going to be taking any new assignments as a playback vocalist from now on. I am calling it off. It was a wonderful journey (sic).”
Arijit has told his fans that he will continue to make music. Recently, he came out with his own song titled 'Raina,' which is composed by Sheykhar Ravjiani and written by Priya Saraiya.

Shreya Ghoshal’s Musical Journey
Shreya started her playback singing career with the movie Devdas, which was directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and had music by Ismail Darbar. Her song ‘Bairi Piya’ from this movie earned her the National Award for Best Female Playback Singer.
