Sitaare Zameen Par Box Office: Aamir Khan's big-screen comeback with Sitaare Zameen Par was highly anticipated following Laal Singh Chadha's lacklustre performance. Will RS Prasanna's directorial be able to revive Aamir Khan's career at the box office? The Daily Jagran spoke with the movie's director before its premiere regarding the hesitancy around box office numbers.

Sitaare Zameen Par director recalled the time when he watched Taare Zameen Par in theatres and how it was a community experience."There was magic happening. I remember all of us in Chennai, strangers otherwise, suddenly got united by a movie and started weeping together. That is the only magic that I know, the magic of emotional resonance, which cannot be quantified, can it (sic)?"

RS Prasanna highlighted that beautiful things cannot be quantified. "I feel I am a romantic in that sense, but I feel that beautiful things, you know, which cannot be quantified, which is that the community spirit of watching it (sic)," he added. The visionary filmmaker concluded by expressing his excitement for the Sitaare Zameen Par's release and the magic it will create in movie halls.

Sitaare Zameen Par isn't your typical commercial movie. The heartfelt sports drama was more reliant on the early reviews, even though Aamir Khan, the superstar, plays the protagonist. The audience's scepticism was also understandable given the failure of Laal Singh Chaddha and Thugs of Hindostan. Sitaare Zameen Par, however, seemed to have met the expectations.

Gulshan Arora, an egotistical assistant coach in basketball, is suspended after hitting his senior after an angry outburst. He is then given a community service term that includes teaching basketball to a group of persons with special needs for three months after he crashes into a police van while intoxicated. Gulshan accepts the position grudgingly, shocked and often whining, not expecting to be the one receiving coaching. As he not only finds it difficult to teach them but also makes fun of and undervalues them because of their flaws, his entire world is turned upside down. Soon, though, this group proves to be Gulshan's greatest mentors.

Campeones (Champions), a 2018 Spanish film that was adapted for Hollywood starring Woody Harrelson a few years later, is officially remade in Sitaare Zameen Par. The heartelt drama may not be released on OTT anytime because it adheres to a strictly theatrical distribution policy.
