Stolen: Stolen's compelling story, exciting action, and cast's exceptional performances have created a lot of talk since its recent debut on Amazon Prime Video. Inspired by the 2018 Assamese Karbi Anglong lynching case that shook the country, Abhishek Banerjee directed this criminal thriller.
Stolen director Karan Tejpal stated in an interview that the plot is based on a true story that took place in the Karbi Anglong region of Assam in 2018. He was shook by the incident and started his investigation. The filmmaker disclosed that this incident was the first push he needed to work on his directorial debut.
Stolen Is Based On Assam's Real-Life Incident
Nilotpal Das and Abhijit Nath were two guys traveling in the Karbi Anglong area of Assam on June 8, 2018. A WhatsApp rumoUr concerning child traffickers began to circulate among the locals at the same time. There was a report that kidnappers were active in the area. The locals attacked these two individuals because they thought so.
The locals dragged Niloptal and Abhijit out of their car and beat them to death with sticks and stones, even though they begged in front of the mob and made a valiant effort to prove their innocence. In addition, the assailants captured the horrific event on camera, and the horrific and distressing footage went viral, igniting a nationwide outrage.
The victims' families are still waiting for justice, despite the fact that up to 36 persons were arrested in the case.
