Twinkle Khanna spoke about growing noise over her viral 'raat gayi baat gayi' comment on her talk show Too Much, which prompted online conversations about cheating, marriage, and celebrity relationships. The remark, made casually during an episode starring Kajol, Karan Johar, and Janhvi Kapoor, quickly gained traction on social media, causing Twinkle to clarify that it was exaggerated. Days following the uproar, the 51-year-old former actor admitted it was a lighthearted moment rather than a serious conversation.
Twinkle Khanna, in an interview with The Times of India, denied that she was 'making light of infidelity,' claiming that the remark originated from a lighthearted section, not a philosophical discussion. She clarified that it was 'part of a lighthearted game' and 'not meant as a serious debate.'
Twinkle Khanna said, "If it had been a serious debate, then I would have said that we need to evaluate where monogamy as a construct… when we moved from a nomadic lifestyle to farming, and then, you know, a man and his claim over his offspring came into being versus monogamy truly being something that helps society thrive and holds it together. That is a serious debate. This was just a joke and it was a light-hearted moment."
