Mumtaz was a beautiful and talented Indian actress who ruled Bollywood during the 1960s and 1970s. Her captivating smile, expressive eyes, and natural grace made her a timeless icon, often balancing glamorous roles with emotionally powerful performances. Her career took off after she delivered iconic performances in hit films like Do Raaste, and Khilona. Throughout her career, she fearlessly embraced glamorous characters in popular movies such as Apradh, Hare Rama Hare Krishna, and Roti, leaving a lasting impression on audiences. Despite her immense talent and success in mainstream cinema, Mumtaz faced difficulties during her early career days after being typecast as a ‘stunt film heroine’.
Mumtaz, in an old interview with Radio Nasha, candidly talked about her struggle with being typecast and also revealed advice given by her co-actor Dev Anand about her looks. Talking about receiving love from fans, she said, "People come up to me to take pictures, and I feel so proud that even though so many years have passed, I think I have given around 50 years of my life to this (industry). But people still love me the same, and it doesn’t take them more than a second to recognise who I am. You have to look good and presentable. Even today, more men love me than women."

Further, during the interview, the actress recounted an important advice given to her by Dev Anand. The superstar suggested that as an actor, one should look good even after dying. He advised her to take care of herself and how she looked, so that, when she walked on the road, not only men but women should also turn to look back at her.
Mumtaz also shared an incident when she once visited Dev Anand’s house, who was 85 at that time. The actor believed that age was just a number, and to prove his point, he asked his makeup artist to open the door of his room, behind which three women were peeping inside to get a glimpse of the star. Unfazed by the incident, Dev turned to Mumtaz and pointed out how he still had options. Mumtaz said, "He just casually told them that he'll get back to them, closed the door and said to me, 'See, baby, I still have options,' and I just sat there saying, Wow."

For those who are unaware about Mumtaz’s professional front, her final acting role in a feature film was in the 1990 movie Aandhiyan, which was a comeback attempt after retiring in 1977. The movie was not a commercial success, which made her retire from the entertainment industry. However, she later made a non-fiction screen appearance in the 2010 docudrama 1 a Minute, where she appeared as herself.
