At the 71st National Film Awards, a historic moment unfolded when four-year-old Treesha Vivek Thosar became the youngest ever recipient of the Best Child Artist award. The Marathi child actor’s remarkable achievement for her performance in Naal 2 has now placed her in the record books, drawing admiration from audiences, critics, and veteran actors alike. Treesha played the role of Chimi, also known as Revati, in Sudhakar Reddy Yakkanti’s Naal 2, which was produced by filmmaker Nagraj Manjule. Her natural acting and endearing screen presence won over the jury, who praised her for bringing out the innocence of childhood and the warmth of family relationships. According to reports, Treesha was only three years old when she shot for the film, making her achievement even more extraordinary.
On 24th September 2025, Treesha received the prestigious honour from President Droupadi Murmu at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi. The hall erupted in applause as the youngest winner walked to the stage with both confidence and charm. Her shy smile and composed demeanour left the audience captivated, making her moment one of the most talked-about highlights of the ceremony. The National Award came with the Swarna Kamal (Golden Lotus), a certificate, and a cash prize. Beyond the accolades, the award cemented her legacy as the youngest ever to win in the Best Child Artist category. Pictures of Treesha at the event, shared on her Instagram, showed her posing happily with some of the biggest stars in Indian cinema, including Shah Rukh Khan and Mohanlal. She described the evening as “unforgettable and joyous moments.”

Veteran actor Kamal Haasan also congratulated her, noting that she had broken his own record. “Dear Ms Treesha Thosar, my loudest applause goes to you. You’ve beaten my record, as I was already six when I got my first award! Way to go, madam. Keep working on your incredible talent,” he wrote in a heartfelt post on X (formerly Twitter). Treesha, expressing her delight after the win, said to ANI, “I am very happy that the President congratulated me,” adding that meeting President Droupadi Murmu was one of the happiest moments of her life.

Despite her young age, Treesha has already worked alongside well-known Marathi actors such as Mahesh Manjrekar and Siddharth Jadhav. With her historic win, many believe she has a bright future in both Marathi and Hindi cinema. For now, though, Naal 2 has given her not only national recognition but also the honour of creating history as India’s youngest National Award winner.
