Kareena Kapoor Khan and Dia Mirza are two respected Bollywood stars who are admired for their talent and professionalism. While never appeared to be at odds about anything, in a resurfaced interview, Dia had revealed a tense incident from the early 2000s when she was left ‘flabbergasted’ by Kareena’s unexpected reaction during a group event in Lucknow. According to Dia, the event was organised by the Sahara Group and required all attendees to wear cotton salwar-kameezes featuring the national flag.
Dia Mirza in an earlier interview with Rediff recalled, “Kareena wanted to wear a ghagra choli with heavy jewellery that she’d specially got made for herself. Above all, she was not wearing the national flag.” Namrata Shirodkar, present at the event, had been upset by Kareena’s refusal to follow the agreed dress code. “Namrata Shirodkar was quite upset seeing Kareena was not abiding with the required uniformity. I told Namrata to pick up her outfit and walk out, so that we could sort it out privately,” the Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein actress added. However, tensions escalated unexpectedly. “Suddenly, something struck Kareena. She started screaming at me at the top of her voice, ‘Who the hell are you? Who are you to advise Namrata?’ I was flabbergasted and very upset. I left the room, without retorting,” Mirza said.

Despite the drama, things came full circle half an hour later when Kareena’s secretary, Jatin, knocked at Dia’s door and politely asked if she was ready. “A few minutes later, she was talking to me as if nothing had happened,” Dia recalled. This change in demeanour led Dia to conclude that Kareena often “does not realise when she is irrational, unfair and loud.”
Following their rocky exchange, Dia and Kareena later found common ground in their careers. They co-starred in the 2009 movie Kurbaan and have since collaborated professionally, including appearing together on Kareena’s Radio Mirchi show. There, they discussed various subjects, such as mental health, pressure on social media, and maintaining positivity in a fast-paced industry.
Today, Dia Mirza is known for her thoughtful roles in films and her work as a UN Environment Goodwill Ambassador, while Kareena Kapoor Khan continues to shine in major films like Jaane Jaan and Crew.
