O Kadhal Kanmani revolves around a young couple in love, Dulquer Salmaan (Aditya) and Nithya Mene (Tara), who have been living together in Mumbai. They are comapred with an elderly couple who are the landlords of the formers’ residence. The young duo agrees that marriage is a pointless choice for them because they feel so compatible. However, after noticing the old couple, they are forced to reconsider their decisions and perspective on life after realising the value of love and emotions.

Aditya and Tara share a same perspective on life and a desire to fully experience it. They are very certain that their friendship will not lead to marriage, even though it develops into a relationship. Will they ever be married? What will happen to their relationship? Many of these intriguing concerns are addressed with the touch of legendary Mani Ratnam.
