Indian Movies Nominated For Oscars Till Date: The 96th Academy Awards is all set to take place on March 10 and the audience is eagerly looking forward to watching which movies and actors will bag the honours. Blockbusters including 'Oppenheimer', 'Barbie', 'Poor Things', and 'Past Lives' have dominated the nomination list in several categories. Indian movies and documentaries have also received recognition at the Oscars over the years and have taken the legacy of Indian cinema to the international level. 1. RRR
'RRR' took the nation by storm at the time of its release and also became one of the most successful Indian movies released internationally. The movie stars Ram Charan and Jr NTR in the lead role. The movie also stars Ajay Devgn and Alia Bhatt in pivotal roles alongside Hollywood actors, Olivia Morris, Ray Stevenson, and Alison Doody. 2. Mother India
'Mother India' revolves around Radha, who struggles to raise her children after her husband dies and has to go up against Sukhilala, a greedy moneylender. Directed by Mehboob Khan, the movie stars Nargis, Sunil Dutt, Rajendra Kumar and Raaj Kumar. The movie was nominated for the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film. 3. An Encounter With Faces
'An Encounter With Faces' is a short documentary film, which focuses on a group of children in an orphanage. Directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, the movie was nominated for an Academy Award for Documentary Short Subject in 1978. The movie is available to watch on YouTube.
4. Salaam Bombay
'Salaam Bombay' revolves around Krishna, who destroys his brother's motorbike in revenge. In a rage, his mother asks him to return home only after getting Rs 500 for repair but Krishna finds himself in slums in Mumbai. The movie stars Shafiq Syed, Raghuvir Yadav, Anita Kanwar, Nana Patekar, Hansa Vithal and Chanda Sharma. It was nominated for the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film. 5. Lagaan: Once Upon A Time In India
'Lagaan' is set in 1893 and revolves around Bhuvan, who accepts the challenge of Captain Andrew Russell to beat his team in cricket in return for not paying taxes for three years. 6. The White Tiger
'The White Tiger' focuses on Balram, a poor boy from a village, who uses his cunning behaviour to become a successful entrepreneur. Based on Aravind Adiga's 2008 novel of the same name, the movie stars Adarsh Gourav, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, and Rajkummar Rao in the lead roles. It was nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay at the 93rd Academy Awards. The movie is streaming on Netflix.
7. The Elephant Whisperers
'The Elephant Whisperers' is about a bond between a couple and an orphaned baby elephant. The movie won the Academy Award for Best Documentary Short Film at the 95th Academy Awards, becoming the first Indian film to win an Academy Award in that category. The movie is streaming on Netflix.
8. All That Breathes
