The eagerly awaited follow-up to Berlin is finally set to arrive. After its debut on Netflix in December 2023, where it quickly climbed the platform’s top 10 charts, the Money Heist prequel is officially making a return. Netflix has announced that the second season, titled Berlin and the Lady with an Ermine, is scheduled for a global premiere very soon. The Money Heist prequel series sees Pedro Alonso stepping back into the role of the iconic Andrés de Fonollosa, popularly known by his codename Berlin. The actor first brought the character to life in Money Heist in 2017, and reprised the role when the prequel series debuted, with its first season releasing on December 29, 2023.
While the inaugural season unfolded against the romantic backdrop of Paris, the upcoming second season shifts the setting to the south of Spain. After months of production updates throughout 2025, Netflix made several major announcements in December last year and again in January 2026, unveiling the official title, releasing a new trailer and fresh stills and finally confirming the global release date.
Berlin Season 2 OTT Release Date
Netflix officially confirmed via a 'First Look' announcement in late 2025 that the series would return on May 15th, 2026. On January 28th, 2026, Netflix released the first teaser trailer. Watch it here:
The official plot summary reads, "Berlin and Damián bring the gang together, this time in Seville, to pull off a master heist: pretending to steal the Lady with an Ermine. Pretending? Why? Because their real target is the Duke of Málaga and his wife, a couple who think they can blackmail Berlin. What they don’t expect is that their challenge will awaken Berlin’s darkest side — and his thirst for revenge."
