This genre presents romance that doesn't come only with melodrama but with added intensity. These films that understand an uncomfortable truth, a reality check, that love is not always gentle. Sometimes it's messy, chaotic, manipulative, obsessive, or shaped by grief. From my experience, romantic thrillers are never a bad option for binge-watchers who enjoy romance with intriguing twists and turns. So this week, here are 5 must-watch romantic thrillers on OTT.

Top 5 Romantic Thrillers

1.Ek Hasina Thi

When a woman, Sarika (Urmila Matondkar) falls for a charming and mysterious businessman,  Karan (Saif Ali Khan), she soon finds herself in a trap and framed for a crime that she never committed. What begins as a simple romance that later turns sour and gradually in suspense with its shocking proceedings.

Why watch this movie? This movie shows how love becomes the reason fo the betrayal and eventually turns into a fight for justice. Great for viewers who like to watch emotional drama with intense, dramatic turns. Ek Hasina Thi is available for streaming on Netflix.

2.Talaash

This 2012 film starring Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Rani Mukerji focuses more on grief, silence and exhaustion of loss instead of conventional romance. A husband and wife share the same space but no emotional closeness and live worlds apart. In the film, Kareena's character feels like comfort but is wrapped in mystery.

Why watch Talaash? Reema Kagti's directorial film doesn't rush romance; instead, it lets grief sit in the room. This movie reminds us that romance is not only about attraction, sometimes it's about holding on when everything seems already broken. You can watch Aamir and Rani starrer on Netflix.

3.Aitraaz

When mid-week hits, I prefer revisiting older movies with chartbuster music and old-school love stories with twists. In Aitraaz, desire is not mutual and love is tangled with ambition, power, ego and fame. What makes this Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra's film fascinating is how attraction, which is considered possession, turns into accusation, and intimacy becomes a battleground.

Why watch this movie? Aitraaz shows how romance can easily be twisted into manipulation and how love can be weaponised, desire can be dangerous. Years later, this movie hits harder than expected. It is available on Prime Video.

4.Saaya

Released in 2003, Saaya, directed by Anurag Basu, is a supernatural romantic thriller starring John Abraham and Tara Sharma. A story about a doctor who believes he's being contacted by his supposedly dead wife. It blends romance with mystery and supernatural elements. This movie is not a thriller in the usual sense, but it's love that refuses to leave, even after death.

Why watch Saaya movie on OTT? Every time I watch this film, John Abraham's performance continues to resonate, reinforcing the idea that some bonds don't end; they just change form.

5.Darr

Shah Rukh Khan turned obsessive love into a genre with his spine-chilling performance as Rahul. There is no romance in Darr; it portrays an obsession that refuses to respect boundaries. SRK's K..K..Kiran in Yash Chopra's psychological romantic thriller Darr made the film unforgettable yet terrifying for Juhi Chawla's character in the movie.
