Sister Midnight OTT Release: Radhika Apte starrer black comedy movie initially released in the UK on March 14, 2025. The film previously went to BAFTA and Cannes 2024 and garnered praise from the critics. After its global appreciation, Sister Midnight was then released in limited screens in Indian theatres in May. Well, after its theatrical experience, Radhika Apte’s movie makes a silent debut on multiple OTT platforms but with a major twist. The film’s director Karan Kandhari announced that the movie is available on Video On Demand platforms such as Apple TV, Amazon Prime Video and Google Play but only available for the UK audience. Sister Midnight is not available for the Indian audience yet.
The distributor of the film Altitude Films wrote on Instagram, ““Very sharp. Very funny. Very surprising.” - Mark Kermode BAFTA-nominated SISTER MIDNIGHT is available to buy or rent on digital now!”
About Sister Midnight
The story focuses on a newly married woman named Uma, who has no idea about how to spend her time all day alone in a cramped room in Mumbai. She discovers certain feral impulses that land her in unexpected situations. The movie stars Radhika Apte as Uma, Ashok Pathak as Gopal, Chhaya Kadam as Sheetal, Smita Tambe as Reshma, Subhash Chandra as Sher Singh, Navya Sawant as Aditi, Uma Katju as Abbot.
In a statement earlier, director Karan Kandhari shared the thoughts behind doing something different in this cinema. He said, “It started from just the idea of what happens the very first morning in an arranged marriage when the wife wakes up and if the guy goes to work and she’s just there and you have no manual to do this. It’s really just about the fact that there is no manual for anything in life.”
Sister Midnight was nominated for Outstanding British Debut at BAFTA awards this year. The movie won global camera nomination at the 77th Cannes Film Festival (2024).
