The final chapter of The Conjuring follows Ed and Lorraine Warren as they investigate the real-life Smurl haunting of the 1980s, encountering demons and violence. Directed by Michael Chaves, a veteran of the franchise, who also directed The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It. The film stars Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga, who reprise their roles as Ed and Lorraine Warren. They have been playing these characters since The Conjuring premiered in 2013.
