Vinesh Phogat has made India proud as she has scripted history by becoming the country's first female wrestler to qualify for an Olympic final. She defeated Japan's Yui Susaki in the round of 16, Ukraine’s Oksana Livach in the quarterfinals and Cuba’s Yusleylis Guzman Lopez in the semi-finals. Several Bollywood celebrities cheered for Vinesh and congratulated her on her historic win.

Ayushmann Khurrana also cheered for Vinesh Phogat on his Instagram story.

Vinesh Phogat has now confirmed India's fourth medal at the ongoing games and will surely be taking at least the silver medal home. She will also become only the second Indian female wrestler after Sakshi Malik to win an Olympic medal. She had to exit the game in the previous Olympics appearances in Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020.

Her win has also marked a historic first loss in international circuits for ace wrestler Japanese Susaki.
