Ponniyin Selvan 2 Box Office Collection: Aishwarya Rai’s Period Drama Crosses Rs 100 Crore Mark Worldwide, Collects This Much

Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus film Ponniyin Selvan 2 has hit the Rs 100 crore mark worldwide within its first weekend. Released theatrically on April 28, 2023, the film clashed at the box-office with Akhil Akkinenni’s Agent and managed to hold strong still.

On Day 3 of its release, Ponniyin Selvan 2 managed to hold strong at the box-office. The film managed to collect approximately around Rs 30 crore on Sunday. The nett box office collection of Ponniyin Selvan 2 stands at Rs 79.34 crore. Worldwide, the film has collected approximately around Rs 110 crore in 3 days.

Ponniyin Selvan 2 Plot

The official plot of Ponniyin Selvan 2 continues to follow the Chola prince Arunmozhi Varman, who would become the renowned emperor Rajaraja I. Sensing an uprising in the capital, Crown Prince Aditha Karikalan sends his friend Vallavaraiyan Vandiyadevan on a mission that sets off a series of conspiracies against the reigning king.

Vikram About On-Screen Chemistry With Aishwarya Rai

Chiyaan Vikram, who previously starred together with Aishwarya Rai in Mani Ratnam’s Raavan, spoke about his onscreen chemistry with the beauty queen. “It is very interesting because in Raavan, we do not get to be with each other. Even in PS 1, I was just there in one scene, it was hardly just a glimpse of her and me together. And again in part two, I don’t know how many scenes are we together for,” the actor said in an interview.

“I think that the love and romance between the two (characters) is so strong that the audience wants them to meet. That is why they go back to Raavan. But again in Raavan we do not get together and that is working in our favour I think,” Vikram told Zoom Entertainment in an interview.

Ponniyin Selvan 2 is now running in theatres in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi.
