Vettaiyan, the Tamil-language action drama directed by T. J. Gnanavel and produced by Subaskaran's Lyca Productions. The film features Rajinikanth in the lead role, alongside a stellar cast that includes Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, Ritika Singh, Dushara Vijayan and Abhirami. Ahead of the film release, reports indicate that Rajinikanth has been compensated between ₹100 to ₹125 crore for his role in the film. Vettaiyan, set to hit theaters on October 10, 2024.

According to a news portal, the cast's remuneration varies, with Amitabh Bachchan earning ₹7 crore, Fahadh Faasil receiving ₹2-4 crore and Rana Daggubati being paid ₹5 crore. Actress Manju Warrier has secured ₹85 lakh, while Ritika Singh's compensation stands at ₹25 lakh. The ensemble cast also features Dushara Vijayan, Rao Ramesh, Rohini, among others.

Meanwhile, Rajinikanth is making a much-anticipated return to cinemas in the upcoming film Vettaiyan, directed by T.J. Gnanavel. This cop action drama has created a buzz, bolstered by the release of two songs. The trailer is set to premiere tomorrow, October 2. The film has received a U/A certification from the censor board, with a confirmed runtime of 2 hours, 43 minutes, and 25 seconds.

Vettaiyan is scheduled for a global release on October 10, aligning with the Vijayadasami (Dasara) festival. The launch of the theatrical trailer faced delays due to Rajinikanth’s unexpected hospitalization. Additionally, a widely circulated censor board certificate reveals three dialogue adjustments—either through wording changes or muted sections—without impacting the overall duration.

The film boasts an impressive ensemble cast that includes Rajinikanth, Amitabh Bachchan, Rana Daggubati, Fahadh Faasil, Dushara Vijayan, Ritika Singh, Manju Warrier, Abhirami and Rakshan. The film’s soundtrack is composed by Anirudh Ravichander. With a production budget of around ₹160 crore, the storyline revolves around a retired IPS officer who battles the system to seek justice.

This film marks a significant milestone as Rajinikanth's 170th project, initially titled 'Thalaivar 170' before its official name was announced. Vettaiyan was filmed across various locations, including Thiruvananthapuram, Tirunelveli, Chennai, Mumbai, and Hyderabad. The movie features cinematography by S.R. Kathir and editing by Philomin Raj.
