The much-awaited film Ramayana, starring Ranbir Kapoor as Ram and directed by acclaimed filmmaker Nitesh Tiwari, has officially announced its release dates. This ambitious project, produced by Namit Malhotra, will be presented in two parts, with the first part hitting screens during Diwali 2026 and the second part following in Diwali 2027. The movie is anticipated to set new standards for Indian cinema, bringing the ancient tale to life with extraordinary scale and attention to detail.
Namit Malhotra, in a recent social media announcement, shared a poster for Ramayana along with a heartfelt message. He spoke about his decade-long journey to adapt one of India’s most revered epics for the big screen, promising a cinematic experience that will honor the cultural heritage of the story. “More than a decade ago, I embarked on a noble quest to bring this epic that has ruled billions of hearts for over 5000 years to the big screen,” he expressed, adding that the team is working tirelessly to present an “authentic, sacred, and visually stunning adaptation.”

The film will feature Sai Pallavi as Sita, with Yash reportedly cast as Raavan, though details about the actors playing Lakshman and Hanuman remain unconfirmed. Indira Krishna, who portrays Kaushalya, has praised Ranbir Kapoor’s portrayal of Ram, saying, “If there’s an actor in this generation who has beautifully portrayed Lord Rama, it’s Ranbir Kapoor. I can’t imagine anyone else in this role.”
With Ramayana, the creators aim to bring a cherished narrative to audiences around the world, showcasing India's mythological legacy on an epic scale. Fans can look forward to an engaging cinematic journey as they experience this iconic tale of good versus evil, love and sacrifice in a whole new light.
