As one half of the iconic Salim–Javed duo, he didn't just write films; he revolutionised Indian storytelling by creating the "Angry Young Man" persona and crafting dialogues that remain part of everyday conversation decades later.

Zanjeer (1973)

This is the film that changed everything. By penning the role of Inspector Vijay, Salim–Javed turned Amitabh Bachchan into a superstar. It moved away from the romantic musicals of the era to a gritty, action-oriented narrative.

Sholay (1975)

Sholay is often cited as the greatest Indian film ever made. The film features an ensemble cast including Dharmendra, Amitabh Bachchan, Hema Malini, and Sanjeev Kumar.

Deewaar (1975)

This powerful drama explores the moral conflict between two brothers, one a criminal and the other a policeman. The film is famous for its sharp-immortal line, "Mere paas maa hai." The movie starred Amitabh Bachchan, Shashi Kapoor, Neetu Singh and Parveen Babi in key roles.

Don (1978)

Before the modern remakes, there was the 1978 original. This cult classic starred Amitabh Bachchan, Zeenat Aman, Om Shivpuri in lead roles and was a box office success.

Yaadon Ki Baaraat (1973)

This masala movie perfected the trope of siblings separated by fate and reunited by a song. Yaadon Ki Baaraat starred Dharmendra, Aamir Khan, Zeenat Aman and others in pivotal roles. The movie's songs were deeply loved by the fans.

Majboor (1974)

This gripping thriller starred Amitabh Bachchan and Parveen Babi. The story follows a man who confesses to a murder he didn't commit to secure his family’s financial future, only to find himself in a race against time when he discovers he isn't actually dying.

Immaan Dharam (1977)

This drama features an incredible cast including Shashi Kapoor, Sanjeev Kumar, and Rekha. It explores themes of honesty, redemption, and the struggles of two petty criminals trying to go straight.
